This project is a student project made when I attended the Shillington School of Design.
The brief was very open: Create experimental beer labels or cans for a fruity summer beer collection that is eye-catching and creates excitement.
Based on research, my eye went to colorful 60s and 70s design patterns. The reason I chose to base my design on these is because it's colorful, suprising and vibrant and offers a lot of freedom to design.
I used this as my inspiration to create patterns based on the specific flavors of the beers. I added a 'hidden' hops as a surprise element on all can designs to create consistency and to add a fun twitch.
What's Unique?
The project is unique because it's a non-traditional look and feel for beer can designs. The colors and patterns used are completely build from scratch and has surprising and thoughtful elements in them (ex. hops that is being used as the crown of the pineapple or grapes etc). The colors in each can design are thoughtfully picked in cohesiveness with the other can designs. It's different, eye-catching and surprising. The retro font adds that little extra dynamic into the design.
