HANGAR DESIGN GROUP IS TWO-TIME WINNERS AT THE INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING COMPETITION

Hangar Design Group on the podium twice at the 17th Vinitaly International Packaging Competition. The jury assigned the “Etichetta d’Oro” prize to the reserve Aquavite di Pura Vinaccia Doppia Rettificata Nardini and the special prize "Immagine Coordinata 2012" to the distillery family line, for which the agency was responsible for the image overhaul as part of an extensive rebranding project.

This same principle, based on re-defining the brand in a more contemporary key has been applied to the packaging rewarded today, where the traditional elements of the Nardini bottle, like the relief scroll on the glass, the unmistakeable mark of Bassano del Grappa, the distillery logo and the wording “Aquavite” have been maintained, although lightened somewhat in their dimensions and given a strong coherence with a view to confirming the family line.

As concerns labelling, the choice fell to maintaining the general layout of the old labels by Remondini, yet bringing them up-to-date and making them more modern, balancing out the weights of the individual graphic elements, giving them a cleaner, aesthetic rigour. The brand iconographic and value elements were then identified. Thus the year in which the company was founded (1779) becomes an essential graphic sign, visible on the capsules, whilst on the back of the bottle Bassano, the place of origin, which is fundamental for Bortolo Nardini, is silk-screen printed. Corks and packages have also been brought back to a common, coordinated image, despite referring to different products.

We have therefore had confirmation of just how an articulated graphics project can strategically help construct a brand identity that is true to the company’s history and vocation and transfer centuries of heritage into a look to the future that is also perceived in the packaging.

These awards consolidate the expertise of the Hangar Design Group, which can already boast a wealth of international prizes won over recent years, including the Red Dot Design Award for the new Ferrarelle bottle, the “Questione di Etichetta” prize for the Mosnel labelling and in 2011, the “Compasso d’oro” for the Movit design project.
